In this Farce which pokes fun at doctors, Argan is convinced he is dying from every disease in the book. Not only is he paranoid, he's also cheap, and thus comes up with a scheme to marry off his daughter Angelique to an idiotic boy who happens to come from a family of doctors. Angelique has already fallen in love with Cleante, and is heartbroken. Her faithful and hilarious servant Toinette vows to help her escape her father's foolishness and save him from himself (and his adulterous fraud of a wife), in the hilarious nonsensical musical conclusion - but not before a giant enema machine, a very forceful false doctor, some 'playing dead' and an impromptu opera!  



Role

Angelique ~ Sweet and romantic, she can't stop thinking about the boy who defended her honor at the fair, and wants nothing more than to marry for love. She knows her father is somewhat deluded, but loves him more than anything in the world and is devoted to him. However, she does stand up for herself, especially against her horrible step-mother. Toinette is her confidante and best friend, the one person she can trust above all others. She believes in following her own heart, and in protecting those she loves.
